Recently, I attended a writer’s retreat with members of one of my writers’ groups, Crossroads Romance Writers. Okay, I don’t sleep well in total darkness, without the white noise of a television in the background (I know it’s not optimal but it’s my routine), so I came home completely exhausted. I didn’t get a lot of writing done either. However, I had a great weekend. We had a few discussions about writing, did some writing exercises, talked a lot about topics unrelated to writing, and had a few tasty
meals (some of the food was even healthy!). I’ve come to learn retreats aren’t necessarily for writing but making connections and maybe picking up a few writing tips. The publishing industry is tough, and writers need each other for support, information, and friendship. Thank you to my writer friends. I look forward to the next retreat!
